About Our Club
Rotaract is a young adult organization sponsored by an international organization called Rotary, a humanitarian effort nonprofit. Rotaract strives to perform community service and promote leadership development. Members participate in volunteer and service projects based on our six avenues of service: peace & conflict, economic development, maternal and child development, disease prevention, water conservation, and literacy. They also encourage one another to follow the four-way test of being a good humanitarian: is it truthful, is it fair to all concerned, is it in goodwill and better friendships, and is it beneficial to all concerned? Rotaract is an opportunity for students to reach beyond the campus and Fredericksburg community and distinguish themselves from their peers in networking and self-development.

Dr. Al-Tikriti is a history and American studies professor at the University of Mary Washington.

Hey, y’all! I am a sophomore at UMW majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in neuroscience. I joined and created Rotaract because I am a service oriented individual. Outside of class I enjoy eating out with friends and family, reading books, and taking naps!
Vice President: Lordina Agyekum
Hi, my name is Lordina Agyekum and I attend the University of Mary Washington. I am a first-generation Ghanaian American that is currently majoring in Biomedical Sciences and is contemplating a specific minor in the intent of becoming a traveling physician that helps individuals living in third world countries. I recently started volunteering at a local hospital and I spend an extent of my time being an active member of my community. Because of my love of helping others, I decided to join Rotaract to reach a wider group of people and to make a greater impact on society. Volunteering through Rotaract has allowed me to witness direct change that can occur in the intent of helping others.

Hello! My name is Nicole Fortner. I am a sophomore going to double major in biomedical sciences and psychology with a minor in neuroscience. I am the historian of the Rotaract Club to keep y’all posted on our current events and the new opportunities to provide humanitarian services in the future! I joined Rotaract to gain the opportunity to help anyone in every way that I can and to grow in collaborative settings in leadership. I dream to become a doctor to help treat patients in dire need. My passions are making anything art-related, play videogames, and to spend time caring for my family!
Treasurer: Christina Hargate
Hello! My name is Christina and I am the Treasurer for Rotaract this semester. I’m going to graduate in 2024 with a Biomedical Sciences major. My passions include gardening, reading, and working as a physical therapy technician. I joined Rotaract last semester because I love volunteering and the club’s flexibility. Rotaract is also very open to new volunteer ideas so if you all want to try something new let us know! 🙂
